6th of September, 2007, a wide eyed 17 year old by the name of Alvin arrived at the Bat to Nham Gardens for a staggering fee of £6m. Many people questioned the fee paid. Today, exactly 6 years (19 seasons) on, that fee seems like a steal, even in today’s dead market. His first game was in the now defunct BT20 cup where he displaced founding father Ed Baker. He took the first wicket that day but unfortunately only got 9 with the bat as we narrowly lost by 3 runs. Since then however he’s been a part of no less than 17 of the club’s 19 trophies in their history, captaining the majority of them.
To mark his anniversary Zibi will be leading the team out opening with both bat and ball today. The game is already sold out but if you want to come on down there’ll be a big screen in the car park.
