This was a truly memorable bowl. Unpredictability coined Whamo as the winners from KGB XIX. Starting out as 3rd favourites, few expected Whamo to even make the final, let alone win it. Their form in the OD round of matches was incredible and left the opposition shocked. Weerasiri had an incredible debut with the bat, top scoring by a considerable margin, whilst Indi led the way with the ball, drawing level with his great friend and rival GGJ on 64 wickets, despite not taking a single wicket in the BT20 matches.
Just 7 new entries on the Honours board, the most memorable being Nicoski’s electric 130 not out versus the Gips. Two five-fors in the final from Bowmaker & Fitzpatrick made for an exciting first 2 days, before Whamo seized control of the final.
With just 4333 runs, it was a low scoring bowl, but that is what kept it so exciting. 125 wickets were taken, 25 more than KGB XVIII and there were also more 6’s with 113.
The leaderboard sees legends Hooper & Duck strengthen their grip at the top of the tables, making it a double celebration for them on their return to KGB action. GGJ & Indi moved up to joint 3rd in the bowlers all time record books. We will see which one poses the biggest threat to Hoefakker in 2nd going forward, but they are still 32 wickets off that level!
