George Grewcock today announced he is to retire from FC cricket with immediate effect. It means his final innings will be a golden duck. But he ends a 154 game FC career that has seen him score 12,226 runs @ 66.09.
GG said ‘I wanted to go out on a high & it doesn’t get much better than securing promotion as we have done today. Personally it could have turned out better, but its not about me, its about the team. I think with the side playing at a higher level it is right for the team to bring in some fresh talent that can help take the club forward.’
George will continue to play in OD and BT20 next season and possibly beyond.
Baker said ‘We respect Georges decision, he has had a phenominal FC career and concentrating on OD & BT20 may lengthen his Whamo career, which is great news’
